  • Home for a Bunny by Margaret Wise Brown follows a rabbit as it tries to find the perfect place to live. After reading it, tell children they’ll learn about real bunnies in My Big World. (At the end of the issue, they’ll even see where real bunnies have their homes.) text pairing

Craft: Make Bunny Masks

Materials: paper plate, scissors, glue, markers, cotton balls, pipe cleaners, craft sticks

  • This easy craft makes a cute bunny mask!
  • In advance, fold paper plates in half and trace the arcs in the middle.
  • Give each child a folded paper plate. Have them cut along the arc and unfold what they cut out to make a small circle. Then have them cut the small circle in half to make two semicircles. The plate should be in three pieces: an outer ring (the bunny face) and two semicircles (the ears).
  • Have children attach the ears to the top of the face. If they’d like, they can glue on stretched cotton balls to make it “furry.” Attach pipe cleaners for whiskers. Add a craft stick to the bottom so children can hold up their masks.
  • Children can use their masks during playtime. The masks can help children get into character as they dig, hop, and play like bunnies. imaginative play/fine-motor skills
Examples of bunny stamps on a page

Materials: empty toilet paper tubes, stapler, paint, paper, markers

  • Children will make a cute bunny stamp while practicing their counting skills.
  • To make the bunny stamp, tape together three toilet paper tubes to form a triangle. (You can also use a paper towel tube cut into three equal pieces.) Then bend two of the tubes so they have pointed tops.
  • Give each child a stamp, some paint, a piece of paper, and a marker. Have them stamp bunny prints on the paper. Then have them count the number of bunny prints they made and write the number on the page. When they’re done, they can make faces on their bunnies too! counting/fine-motor skills
