Art: Make a Snow Globe Scene
Materials: construction paper, scissors, cotton swabs, white paint, art materials, twigs, glue, snow globe (or picture of one)
- Let the song in the issue (“Snow Is Falling All Around”) inspire children’s artwork!
- To prepare, cut circles from blue construction paper. Then cut triangles from another sheet of construction paper. Glue the pieces together to make a snow globe for each child.
- Show children a snow globe. Snow globes have pretty scenes and pretend snow to look like winter!
- Ask children what they would see outside if it were snowing. What colors would they see? What would people be doing? Have them make their snowy scene in their snow globe! They can use paint, crayons or other art materials. Here are some design tricks: To make bare trees, use twigs. For snow, dip the end of a cotton swab in white paint and make marks on paper. fine motor skills
